Private Psychotherapy

Our psychotherapists at the High Metabolic Clinic support individuals in addressing the complex emotional and behavioural factors influencing their health, habits and weight.

Our psychotherapists aim to empower individuals by providing evidence-based tools and strategies to navigate mental health challenges, create sustainable changes, and improve overall well-being and resilience.

Key focus areas include:

Mood Disorders
Managing conditions such as anxiety, depression, and mood fluctuations, which often contribute to overeating, reduced physical activity, or inconsistent health behaviours. Therapy helps individuals develop coping skills, build emotional resilience, and create healthier thought patterns that support their wellness journey.

Behavioral Activation
Encouraging clients to engage in meaningful activities that promote well-being, improve mood, and disrupt cycles of avoidance or inactivity. Behavioural activation supports the development of routines that align with personal values and health goals, enhancing long-term motivation.

Disordered Eating
Providing therapeutic strategies for addressing challenges like binge eating, emotional eating, restrictive dieting, and body image struggles. Psychotherapy focuses on understanding and modifying eating patterns, cultivating a healthier relationship with food, and improving self-acceptance.

Low Motivation and Self-Compassion
Helping individuals navigate feelings of low energy, motivation, or frustration commonly associated with long-term weight management. Therapists work to foster resilience, break goals into achievable steps, and incorporate self-compassion practices to combat negative self-talk and perfectionism.

Adult ADHD and Weight Management
Many individuals with ADHD face unique challenges related to impulsivity, inattentiveness, and difficulties with routine, which can impact eating behaviors, exercise, and health outcomes. Therapy provides tailored strategies, including skills training, mindfulness techniques, and practical tools to manage ADHD symptoms in a way that supports sustainable health changes.

By integrating psychotherapy with the clinic’s medical and nutritional frameworks, our team addresses the multifaceted nature of obesity.

The High Metabolic Clinic provides a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore underlying challenges, build skills, and take actionable steps toward achieving their health and wellness goals.

Meet our Psychotherapists

Deanna Barlow Deutsch

B.Ed., MA, DBH (Candidate), RP

Deanna is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Certified Canadian Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Deanna has her undergraduate degree as a special education teacher, her Masters in Counselling and is currently working on her Doctoral degree in Behavioural Health. Deanna has been a Psychotherapist since 2006.

Deanna underwent her own lifelong health journey with chronic obesity  and at the age of 41 years of age she began an 8 year long journey (ultimately a life long journey) to  release 118 lbs and find and maintain her best weight. Deanna knows how challenging it can be to work through the desire for an instant fix and struggles with body image, ADHD, realigning your focus on self care  (in the face of the autopilot to put service to others ahead of yourself) and creating daily healthy habits that become the new normal. Making choices that create a sustainable, enjoyable and fulfilling life takes experiencing setbacks and failing forward as Deanna is all too familiar with. Deanna was determined to make these healthy changes for life with the skills she had as a Psychotherapist and by accessing any and all support she needed from other health providers along the way.

Deanna is skilled at supporting each unique individual's needs for Cognitive restructuring when habitual thoughts do not support our long term health goals.

Having been a support to many over Deanna's career as a therapist, specializing in ADHD, body image issues, teaching healthy behavioural change strategies, helping others develop their voice for healthy communication, conflict resolution skills, providing support for others to navigate healthy boundary setting and providing psychotherapy with best practice tools to support those struggling with anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, Deanna has had the honour of helping  many through the inevitable ups and downs of life.

Deanna believes we all hit the limit of our resources to cope, at times, physically, mentally and emotionally and need some support. She is always honoured to take that sacred path with another human through the dark times to see more bright and hopeful times ahead. Teaching skills to self soothe, move through tough emotional states, understand our own inner workings, needs and challenges is something she believes is a privilege to be able to do in her work. Deanna has felt very blessed to be there with those seeking her support in their vulnerable time and help them see their own brilliance beyond the disillusionment they may experience in the struggle of the moment. Deanna believes that remembering our strengths and seeing our own capacity to heal, grow and overcome challenges is such a beautiful journey.

Margo Green

RP(Q), BA

Margo is a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario as well as a certified counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA and more recently from Yorkville University’s Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program, Margo has also completed a 1 ½ year diploma program in holistic nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.

Courses in mindfulness, MBCT, CBT, DBT along with courses on the various programs for supporting addiction, have further contributed to Margo’s framework for psychotherapy.

Evidence-based and well researched, mindfulness practice invites us to slow down to better understand what we may be thinking, feeling, and needing in the moment. Mindfulness is something that can be explored when working with Margo.

Margo has training in Gottman Level 1 and EFT for couples. Margo helps couples to improve communication, improve conflict resolution and resolve other relationship challenges.

Margo has held a lifelong passion for nutrition and mental health. A former Team Canada athlete and Pan Am squash champion, Margo was influenced early on by working with a sport’s psychologist. As a teen, she first saw the benefits of relaxation and visualization practice for enhancing performance.

Margo struggled with disordered eating herself as a teen and young adult. This challenging experience broadened Margo’s understanding and empathy for her work with clients today. Recovery is possible!

Encouraging a lens of self-compassion, Margo supports the client’s journey by helping to identify manageable steps necessary to move toward change and growth. Initial exploration will help the client to gain a better understanding of how certain thoughts and behaviours may have been useful in the past. When working with Margo, identifying strengths is also important as well as acknowledging what habits and behaviours may be better left behind.

It can feel impossible to prioritize self-care and personal wellness while juggling a busy life of work and family commitments. Armed with compassion and curiosity, we can work together to find a way!
